Why Women Having a Seat at the Table is Not Enough
If this was 100 or even 50 years ago, I might at least understand these statistics. I could argue that women’s access to higher levels of education wasn’t the best, that men weren’t taking a very egalitarian approach to the household and cultural norms placed women in paraprofessional roles (think: secretary, copywriter) and were not thought of as managers, directors and leaders.

The Making of a Pinot Noir Vineyard: Leslie Bradshaw Interviews Jim Bradshaw
During a chance conversation with an old high school chum, who happened to be a fine wine salesman in Oregon, we decided to broaden our horizons seeing an opportunity to get into a relatively new and very promising wine growing region. We “kicked a lot of dirt” up and down the Willamette Valley and found the perfect spot to not only raise premium wine grapes but also to raise our “premium” children, Leslie (you) and Jennifer.

Sex, Love, and the Double Standard
Put more directly: do you or those around you view and / or treat women differently than you would men in a similar situation. It may sound like a dated, 1980s feminism rant, but it’s more real than you think.

Proposition 8 Overturned
The time has come to take a serious look at how we rationalize discrimination and inequity in this country.

The Content Grid
One of the projects that I have been working on recently is the Content Grid. First established as a back-of-the-napkin idea for my friend / mentor / client Joe Chernov to evolve his role from Global Communications and Social Media Director to Director of Content at Eloqua.

How Social Media is Changing Design
The presentation focused on the ways that social media is changing web design, from providing building blocks in terms of content and modules, to influencing how users interact with websites and media.

I am Speaking at Sex::Tech
In her presentation, Leslie will review award-winning “DIY recipes for success” and share her own case study from 2009, where she challenged The Heritage Foundation’s stance on sex education through a variety of social media tactics.

Trends in Social Media & Agriculture
It was nice to be with a group of people who were unequivocally genuine, hard working and solid…. New Media Strategies is owned by Meredith Publishing. So is Successful Farming. It was like meeting a sibling you didn’t know you had years after the fact and realizing you have so much in common.

How to Engage Bloggers
Consider your assets. Especially in the world of DC, issues can be complicated and / or obscure. And, brands can have a hard time being relevant, even when they might want to be (ahem, orange juice… and the elections?!) But don’t be discouraged. This is where you get creative.

How to Use Social Media as a Female Legislator
The National Foundation for Women Legislators held their 2009 Women’s Congressional Broadband Summit on Wednesday and Thursday…. as a continuation of their summit, NFWL also held their Joint Leadership Meeting where I was able to share some thoughts on how elected women (and those working to become elected) can utilize social media.

Bradshaw Vineyards Harvests its 2009 Pinot Noir
It all started in the late 80s, when our family purchased property in Oregon….By 1993, our family (mom, dad, Jen, me) had all moved to Oregon and officially started scouting, prepping and eventually cultivating the land.

3121: The social network for Congress
A lot of people are actually calling it the LinkedIn for the Hill. Local bloggers, Frank Gruber over at Somewhat Frank, Nick O’Neill at Social Times, even Adam Ostrow at the Mashable blog, they were kind of all talking and saying, “you know, this is kind of like a LinkedIn.” But the thing about LinkedIn, you kind of populate with your CV or your resume information and I don’t know about you, but I don’t update it regularly.

From Anonymity to Translucency
These are a few slides that I developed over the summer of 2009 that map out the way we have and (potentially) will engage as human beings, with one another and with brands, concepts, issues and politicians, online.

Deciding to Be a Person of Action
Whether it is deciding to actively pick up the phone or taking time to meet in person, versus sending an email / waiting for a response via passive channels or making a serious life change or shift in attitude — taking action (provided it is the reasoned action and not [too] hastily done) is what I personally strive for and respect in others.

Discussion of Age Demographics in Social Media
I was interviewed by Ronald Reagan’s son on the progressive radio network Air America. I would add to what I said: “I would argue that most media is social at some level these days (namely, that which is found online and that which you have a contact database around [e.g., text messaging, instant messaging "IMing" and BlackBerry Messaging "BBMing"]).”

Social Media for Farming, Agriculture and Vineyards
As many others have articulated before me, I too have always thought that social media is not just a listening mechanism, but one that helps in telling and documenting.

Indiana and the Friedman Foundation’s Generator Forum
Be inclusive, not just exclusive…. while launching C-SPAN’s Convention Hubs through TechCrunch and Mashable and Debate Hubs through ZDNetand Ars Technica was certainly effective, what sustained the success of these projects was the manual linking to blog posts, reaching out to a variety of bloggers over Twitter, email, phone and IM… and even reading blog and Twitter posts on air…

Social Media, Voter Reports & Voter Supression…
The ways in which things like social media, Wikipedia, blogging and Twitter (in particular) have [profoundly] changed and involved us all is amazing. I am in awe and look forward to processing it all slowly and in due time.

It’s “Wonderful” - Biden and Palin “Agree”
Separate has not and will never be equal when it comes to legal, civil, moral and cultural laws and/or norms.
